After two-and-a-half years Sordid Ordeal are unleashing their first single since 'Great Ocean Road' and will be playing a show to launch the new track.
'A Purely Genetic Connection' will be released on September 20 and to celebrate, the band are playing a special one-off acoustic show at the The Drunken Poet in historic West Melbourne.
Lauded by The Irish Times in Dublin as being one of the top 10 Irish pubs outside Ireland itself, The Drunken Poet is a Melbourne institution famous for it's vibrant music scene, regularly staging Celtic, folk, country, bluegrass, soul and rock 6 nights a week and home to Melbourne's longest-running Open Mic Night.
Sitting across the road from Melbourne's first colonial cemetery and current site of the Queen Victoria Market, Sordid Ordeal will be paying tribute to the musical Mecca that is The Drunken Poet and presenting an hour of its catalog, some preserved in its pub rock glory but much paying tribute to it's Celtic and folk roots with the help of some good friends.
Supporting Sordid Ordeal will be Melbourne's newcomer Celtic Punk outfit Madigan's Wake, bolting straight out the gate off the back of their first single.
With limited space, come down early to get a spot and witness this unique, intimate single launch from one of Melbourne's typically raucous, sweaty bar blasting bands.
Sordid will play at 9pm and Madigan's Wake will kick the lid off the party at 10:15 and play till we empty every keg in the bloody cellar.
